Gaucho and the Grassland: Cozy Latin-Inspired Farming Sim on Steam

Gaucho and the Grassland

As an avid fan of cozy and simulation games, I’m always on the lookout for more. Gaucho and the Grassland is a new cozy game on Steam, released on July 16, 2025. It’s a cozy adventure that highlights its Latin roots, that is embodied in the characters and other elements. It’ll be right up your alley if you love farming simulation games such as Stardew Valley.

Diving into the game, I thought that I’d be playing an already-made character (which is Gaucho). That isn’t such a bad thing, since there are simulation games that have a storyline we follow. However, I’m surprised that we can actually customize our character (although not by changing their name, since it’s either Gaucho or Gaucha).

Gaucho and the Grassland

Some of the elements of the game remind me of my favorites, such as Fantasy Life, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley. I especially love the background music and sound effects for Gaucho and the Grassland, as they evoke a nostalgic feel reminiscent of the previous games I mentioned.

What I like the most is how it represents a part of the world and its culture that is rarely seen in the video game industry. I wasn’t knowledgeable about the history and culture of Latin America, but with the game, I do get a glimpse of it.

While I love making a profit and seeing my farm grow, Gaucho and the Grassland also share that sense of purpose, as we work towards restoring harmony and helping the people in the game. It’s not a fast-paced game, so expect to take your time caring for your animals and tending to your farm.

The art style’s also right up my alley. And, of course, the highlight of playing the game is definitely having a pet dog that actually helps me find things and a horse I can ride immediately. They are great companions to have.

I say you give Gaucho and the Grassland a try, and see how you like it for yourselves. It’s currently available on Steam.
